SPIRIT OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

Design footwear with a specific demographic in mind, aimed at form and function innovation.

MY DESIGN:

For this project I started with investigation of current outdoor sandal / shoe hybrid trends. Through my sketching phases I explored various various forms and functionalities of sandal / shoe hybrids. I eventually decided on two shoe styles, each with its own characteristics. The first design, a tan sandal, was inspired by woodgrain, and the process of wood manufacturing. The second style (not shown in my online portfolio) is defined by forms such as cracked eggs, where a hard exterior comes into contact with a soft fleshy interior.
